Collette graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1993. In her teenage years, Collette won the Ms. Black Lincoln County pageant that was sponsored by St. Paul AME Church. In 1995 she graduated from Motlow State Community College and ventured off to Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. While at Motlow she served as the first runner-up for Miss Motlow. She worked at Walmart in Fayetteville, TN where she made several friends and was well-loved. She moved on to Cato’s as the store manager until she became ill in 1998.
Collette leaves behind a testament of God’s grace, a treasury of love, and cherished memories to be held close in the hearts of her parents Veronica and Wayne King; daughter Khaila King; granddaughter Braelyn Black; and grandson Kylan Black. In mourning her departure her brother Wayne (Renita) King II; sister Lakia (James) McClellan; nieces Makenzie King and Jekeia Suggs; nephews Thomas King III and Jayden McClellan; great niece Amirah Stallworth; great nephew Niko Stallworth; her God-Mother Zeldra Sharp-Jefferson, and a life-long friend/brother Rod White. She also leaves behind a host of devoted aunts, cousins, and friends.
As we say farewell to Collette we hold dear the memories she leaves behind…ones of faith, strength, love, and perseverance that will be forever cherished.
