Vickie Stewart Ray was born June 24, 1957, to Evelyn Bright and Napoleon Porter. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents Alene and Willie Bright and her brother Mitchell Bright. She was raised by her grandmother Ida Riggs and brother Jerry Porter, who also preceded her in death. She graduated from Central High School in 1975. After graduation she went to Motlow State Community College where she attained her LPN degree. Nursing was her passion for 37 years. She worked at Lincoln County hospital, nursing homes here in Fayetteville, and for Dr. Morrison.
Vickie was a member of the Gathering Church on Pulaski Hwy.
She married Eldis Ray and to this union they were blessed with two loving children: a son Jason Rashad Ray of Fayetteville, and a daughter, Latesha Idette Ray, who preceded her in death.
Vickie departed this life on Friday January 10, 2025. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Jason Rashad Ray; Two sisters; Betty Jean Jones and Alma Harper of Ohio. Four brothers; Mitchell Bright, Chris Stewart, George Stewart, Norbet Stewart of Ohio. Five grandchildren: Jordan Ray, Jarell Ray, Dontez Flowers, Shonna Ray, and Teonna Ray; Great-grandchildren: J’ream Ray, Avion Ray, and Deonte Shelton Jr., Hayden Taylor, and Kennedy Arnold; A devoted cousin, Dorothy Small; Several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Special friends Nannie Conley, Vickie Travis, Brenda Bass, and Vannessa Buchanan.
