Tony Hockett

Tony Hockett of Fayetteville, TN, born November 10, 1957, passed away January 20, 2026 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, TN at the age of 68. He was the son of Collier Hockett and Katie March Hockett.

Tony was a dedicated, hardworking, and loving father who consistently put the needs of others before his own. He was a faithful and devoted member of Mary’s Chapel AME Church, where his commitment to service and community was deeply felt.

Tony distinguished himself early in life as an outstanding high school football player, excelling as a quarterback. Following graduation, he answered a higher call to serve his country by joining the United States Army.

Sergeant Tony Hockett served with honor, courage, and distinction. During his military career, he was recognized for his bravery and carried immense pride in his service throughout his life. His dedication to duty reflected his strong character and unwavering sense of responsibility.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helena Hockett.

He leaves to cherish his memories his life partner Sherry Maxwell; two daughters: E'Sheia Hicks and Tomorrow Hampton; two sons: Cowya Hockett and Tony Hockett, Jr.; Sisters: Wilma Hampton and Carol Ford; one brother: Billy Watts; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In recognition of his faithful and honorable service, military honors will be rendered.
