Ray Buchanan was born August 18, 1955 to Dorothy Rebecca Carmicle & James Rufus Buchanan who preceded him in death.
Ray was lucky enough to have found love on multiple occasions. His spouses Sharon Strong Buchanan and Jean Sales Buchanan both preceded him in death. Ray never hung up his boots. Later in life, he found love in Tonya Seay who was by his side until the end.
As a young adult, Ray following in his father’s footsteps, found his passion behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. He carried on the family tradition of trucking until his health would no longer allow.
After his retrement, he stayed busy with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, his pride and joy. Ray is known as Uncle Ray or Granddaddy to everyone around. If you saw him you were sure to see his grandkids, nieces, or nephews somewhere close by. Grandaddy Ray was surrounded by the love of his children, grandchildren, and family until his last breath.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy Carmicle and James Buchanan; spouses Sharon Strong Buchanan and Jean Sales Buchanan; two sisters Yvette Buchanan and Shirley (Ray) Lyons; and three brothers Ricky Travis, Larry Buchanan, and Benny Buchanan.
Ray’s memory will live on in the hearts of his surviving family: children Jason Buchanan, Lashasta ‘Vette’ Buchanan, Amanda (James) Reese; grandchildren: A’Keisha Turner, A’Karia Reese, Ja’Karious Reese, Tyrek Buchanan, Z’Kyha Buchanan, Tai’Shaun Levingston, LaTyus Hadley, Javar Buchanan, Jakyus Buchanan, Kavareas Divens, Kasyn Divens, Alayah Conley, and Amya Covey; his sisters: Gloria (Stanley) Kelso, Vicky Buchanan, Joanne (John) Bean, Teresa ‘Gail’ Buchanan, and Deborah Travis; brothers: Wayne (Melody) Buchanan, David ‘Kent’ (Rena) Buchanan, and Tim Buchanan. He also had seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
